handmade photobooth props!

It's safe to say that photo booths are the new wedding trend & we definitely want one at our wedding! & what photo booth is complete without props?? Allow me to introduce you to one of the easiest DIYs ever that is sure to warm your heart :]

First, look for inspiration! I gathered most of my ideas from the props in this etsy shop & she has many other themed props (like western, holidays, or pirates) to match the feel of the event. Her items are printed on paper, but I decided to use sturdy polyester felt instead. I cut the shapes on the black felt freehand, but used a marker to draw on the lighter colors. You could also use marker to add patterns & details, which I did on the lips & ties.

Run to the mirror to double check the size of the prop, making sure it "fits" your face. Trying everything on was definitely my favorite part of this project :] Secure the felt to skinny wood dowels with hot glue, making sure to keep the dowel straight, allow to dry completely, & then admire! I was able to make about 20 pieces for less than $5. You seriously can't beat that :]

PS; here is some more fun photo booth inspiration.

make your hands to moving

I've been in a constant state of inspiration! I've been sewing, painting, altering, etc. Recently, I made this cloud & raindrop mobile & a shadowbox with cute pencils. Burton & I have many more things on our "To DIY" list, involving ceramics and chalkboard paint. Hopefully we can tackle some of those this weekend before we go to Savannah next week! Have a lovely Saturday :]

mid-week etsy mania!

For this week's Etsy Mania roundup, I thought I'd share some cute Christmasy things :] I just love handmade holiday decor! 1. rak designs makes these GORGEOUS felt tree sets, as well as cute holiday aprons & stockings! 2. How adorable are angel dog design's wool felted acorn ornaments?? 3. Mr. Button's felt stockings are just so freaking cute. & there's so many styles to choose from, it's impossible to pick a favorite! 4. I just love Deep South Creation's naughty or nice gift tags. So clever!

I hope you love their shops! (& you can check out my very own here) More to come next week ;]

mixing felt & paint

I finally tried out something I've wanted to focus on for a while now. I want to make paintings inspired by beautiful rooms I find on interior design websites, in magazines, etc. & I wanted to use felt, instead of paint, to showcase any textiles in that room. So my first attempt was inspired by this bathroom & will be up for sale on my etsy soon!

This will be the inspiration for my next felt/paint combo :] What do you think?

update

I apologize for the lack of updates this week. Apart from work & school, I was spending time with Becki, who was visiting Orlando for a few days, and catching some much needed Z's. I did have a few spare moments to work on a couple fun projects and snap some photos.

I'm about two-thirds done with a camera bag I've been working on. It's the first bag I've ever made & quite a challenge! But it will be nice to have encouragement to bring my camera out & about.

I made a glasses organizer from what used to be the keyboard shelf on a computer desk. Add some spray paint, a ribbon, & voi-la!

This book is slowly becoming my bible. I've been getting so excited about starting up my shop again & planning planning planning some wonderful ideas!

& I have the two laziest cats in the world :] I hope you have a fantastic memorial day weekend, full of barbecues, pool parties, & margaritas!

fun little projects

I had this cute little idea of combining my two favorite materials: felt & paint :]

A painting for my dear friend Becki, which was inspired by a forever21 gift card.

A means to use felt scraps, inspired by Neawear.

I have many other things on my agenda today. Some boring things like cleaning & laundry & the exciting things like planning, reading, spray-painting, & finally watching "Up in the Air"! I hope you all have lovely, productive days as well :]

new wreath!

I'm not sure how I feel about the ornaments yet, but that can easily be changed eventually :] It certainly won't be my last wreath! In the second picture you can also see one of the cute pillows I sewed to prep my patio for spring time!

bad blogger

I'm sorry I don't write in here much at all anymore.
But this is my life as of late:

Maybe if I thought people actually read this, I'd update more often :/

settled in!

It becomes homier & homier every day & I absolutely love living here! The cats do, too, if you can't tell :] Many more pictures of the place can be found on my flickr. Wow! Christmas is only THREE DAYS away! I'm behind schedule with present-making, thanks to being preoccupied with school, work, & the move. But I'm heading home today & I'll just have to put the finishing touches on some gifts in secret. Wouldn't want the family to see! Anyway, these are a couple gifts I've finished so far:

This is for my friend, Rebecca. She's going for her master's degree right now & she's just always surrounded by stress & seriousness. I wanted her to have something to hang above her desk that can make her stop for a minute & smile. It's a quote from her favorite movie :]

This is for my best friend, Ashley. She's a pastry chef working at a place called We Take The Cake! Have a happy holiday, everyone! I'll see you in the new year :]

new things in etsy shop!

Please check out my etsy shop!
I added TEN felt bow headbands (each one unique!)
& I even reduced the prices on some items!

Thanks, guys :] I really appreciate any support.

many lovely things!

I just put in an order to have two dozen roses sent to Frank on our two year anniversary. It's a little bit non-traditional for the man to receive flowers, but I've been wanting flowers in the house anyway :] We'll be celebrating this Friday by seeing one of our favorite comedians, Louis CK, & then spending the night at a romantic hotel. Room service, too! I'm so excited :D

My best friend came up to Orlando this weekend & a group of us headed on over to Disney & had a blast. Most of the gang hasn't been to Disney since they were a kid, so they acted like...well...kids.

I made this cute felted bow headband yesterday & they are so cute & so much fun to wear! Trust me, I'll be making MANY MORE of these in the future. Have a lovely day, everyone! & hello, Monday!
